Bioreactor Oxygen Absorption Rates
Oxygen absorption rates demonstrate the relative performance of a standard diffuser and a microporus diffuser.

- Data provided to demonstrate the relative performance of a standard diffuser and a microporous diffuser.
- Our bioreactors are available with either diffuser.
- The data were collected in 100 liters of fresh water at 18C° with the dissolved oxygen probe submerged 18 inches.
- The data are for one diffuser of each type. Greater oxygen absorption rates can be achieved by increasing the number of diffusers.
- The element in the microporous diffuser is a 4.5 inch diameter ceramic disc. The bubble size has been reported to be 100 to 500 micron.
- The element in the sintered glass diffuser is an Aquatic Ecosystems Diffuser, ALR80SS. The bubble size is reported to be 0.5 to 2.0 mm.
- Data were collected for each diffuser with an air lift circulator operating. The estimated circulation rate was 10 liters of water per minute.
